Clarification - June 9, 2021 Article on Beaver Dam Removal

At the June 2, 2021 Regular Meeting of Council, Council discussed concerns that have been received regarding beaver dams located on private property.

Council passed amendments to the Level of Service Overland Drainage Policy and the Level of Service Pest Control Policy to address these concerns. The policies now state that beaver dam removal may be completed on private lands, at the request of the landowner according to the Fee for Services Bylaw.

Three Readings were also given to the Fee for Service Bylaw which now includes the following fee structure: Private Land Beaver Dam Removal - 50% cost share between landowner and County. Equipment, transportation, and labour costs based on current year Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association equipment rates.

The removal of beaver will be the responsibility of the landowner.
