Land Use Bylaw and Municipal Development Plan

Beaver County is in the early stages of reviewing and amending the Land Use Bylaw (LUB) and Municipal Development Plan (MDP) in collaboration with V3 Companies of Canada Ltd. The County is aware of concerns that have been expressed regarding other municipality’s decisions and processes on updating their Land Use Bylaw.

Beaver County does not intend on amending the LUB and MDP in the same fashion as the other municipality’s have; the County intends on strengthening and adding more uses within the zoning districts, and giving more guidance to aid economic development and growth within our community.

The team working on reviewing and amending these critical documents for the land use planning of Beaver County comprise of professionals with extensive knowledge and experience working with rural municipalities in Alberta. As a result, and in compliance with the Municipal Government Act, Beaver County will be conducting public engagement sessions, once the draft plan is ready for review, to ensure that the residents of the County are fully aware of the proposed amendments and have the opportunity to express any concerns to the County prior to the amended LUB and MDP being presented to Council. Notice of the public engagement sessions will be advertised in the Beaver County Chronicle, www.beaver.ab.ca, and the Beaver County social media accounts at a later date. If you are not a recipient of the Beaver County Chronicle and would like to be, please call the Tofield Mercury office at 780-662-4046 to be added to the mailing list.

If you have any questions or concerns with respect to the LUB or MDP, please do not hesitate to contact the Beaver County Development Officer at 780-663-3730 ext. 1018 or jpost@beaver.ab.ca.
