Strengthening Regional Governance

Strategic Goal: Collaborative Partnerships

Green Municipal Grant Outreach

  • Council directed administration to pursue a tree-planting partnership grant through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund, engaging CN as a potential collaborator.

Support for Career and Technology Studies (CTS) Academy

  • A letter of support will be sent for the Alberta CTS Academy's virtual career training program to benefit Beaver Region high school students.

Agricultural Appeal & Board Bylaws Updated

  • Updates were made to Agricultural Notice of Appeal Committees and Agricultural Service Board bylaws, ensuring alignment with privacy legislation and streamlined committee operations.

 

Supporting Lifestyle and Community Engagement

Strategic Goal: Lifestyle Enhancement

National Awareness Weeks Recognized

  • June 20 was acknowledged as the “Longest Day of Smiles,” celebrating community wellness.

Policy Updates Supporting Youth & Community Education

  • The County’s Youth Education of Government and Stelmach Scholarship policies were updated to enhance recognition and program clarity.

Community Event Participation

  • Council members engaged with the public through events like the Viking RCMP BBQ, Pow Wow, Seed Cleaning Plant meeting, and Tofield Golden Club breakfast.

Reserve and Tax Policies Refined

  • The Operating & Capital Reserves policy and Tax Certificates and Verbal Tax Searches policy were approved and updated.

Fees, Rates & Charges Bylaw Adopted

  • Council gave second and third readings to Bylaw #25-1174, which updates service fees across County departments.

Appointment of Auditor Delayed

  • The decision regarding appointment of auditors was deferred to July’s meeting.

 

Financial Oversight

Financial Reports Reviewed

  • Administration and Council reviewed the latest financial reports, action items, and strategic planning materials.
