Strengthening Regional Governance

Strategic Goal: Collaborative Partnerships

Beaver Regional Partnership Bylaw Finalized

  • Council gave second and third readings to Bylaw #24-1158, formally adopting the amended Beaver Regional Partnership Agreement.

Shared Services Review – Fire and Emergency Services

  • Council requested that the Beaver Emergency Services Commission lead the update of its shared services agreement to reflect legislative changes.

Intermunicipal Development Plan Update

  • Council approved participation in updating the Ryley/Beaver Intermunicipal Development Plan and applying for an Alberta Community Partnership Grant, with Ryley as the managing partner.

 

Supporting Lifestyle and Community Engagement

Strategic Goal: Lifestyle Enhancement

Community Standards Bylaw Passed

  • Council gave second and third readings to Bylaw #25-1164, establishing guidelines to support safety, cleanliness, and livability in the County.

Youth Outstanding Achievement Policy Updated

  • Policy #CS-018 was updated to improve support for outstanding youth achievements.

Volunteer and Community Recognition

  • Council acknowledged Seniors Week and National AccessAbility Week.

Council Member Participation

  • Council members attended numerous community events and meetings, including Volunteer Appreciation Dinners, the Snow Goose Festival, Tofield Graduation, and meetings with Family and Community Support Services and the Beaver Hills Biosphere.

 

Enhancing Infrastructure and Sustainability

Strategic Goal: Sustainable Infrastructure

Fees, Rates, and Charges Bylaw Introduced

  • Council gave first reading to Bylaw #25-1174 to update fees, rates, and service charges across departments.

Agricultural Service Improvements, Council:

  • Appointed five inspectors under the Weed Control and Agricultural Pest Control Acts.
  • Approved first readings of Bylaws for the Agricultural Service Board and Agricultural Notice of Appeal Committees.
  • Appointed members to the Agricultural Appeal Committees.
  • Updated policies related to agricultural education, pest control, the Farm Family Award and the ASB scholarship.

Workplace Policy Updates

  • Council approved a revised Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention Policy and rescinded the former discrimination and harassment policy.

 

Financial Oversight

Budget and Financial Review

  • Council reviewed financial reports and activity tracking documents.
