Public Hearing – Road Closure South of S½ 18-50-17-W4

Council held a public hearing at 1 PM to allow affected residents to voice any feedback they had regarding the proposed road closure South of S½ 18-50-17-W4. The only input was contributed by the applicant. The application will now be forwarded to Alberta Transportation for approval before coming back to Council for second and third readings of the bylaw.

Procedural Bylaw

First reading was completed for the revised Procedural Bylaw. This bylaw serves as a framework to govern the proceedings of Council and Committee activities. Recognizing its significance and specialized nature, administrative efforts included involving legal counsel in the assessment of the existing Procedural Bylaw. Numerous modifications have been incorporated to simplify and enhance procedural clarity. In addition, the Bylaw confirms the existing practice of live-streaming Council meetings but limits the retention of the electronic recording to one month after the meeting minutes have been approved.  Two more readings will be scheduled at a future Council meeting, with the bylaw coming into full effect as of the third reading.

Council Code of Conduct Bylaw

The second and third readings were given to the new Council code of conduct bylaw. The bylaw ensures transparent and accountable governance standards for our Council. For review, it can be found on the website under Government > Bylaws & Policies > Bylaws > Governance.

2024 Road Construction

Council approved the 2024 construction program, which is to include 10.85 miles of Terracem (hard surfacing), 1 mile of full cement and double chip repairs, 8 miles of re-chipping, and 10 miles of fog overlay. Program details can be found on the website under Services > County Roads > Road Maintenance.

2023 Backsloping Program

The backsloping project proposed on SE 1-49-16-W4 for this fall was approved by Council.

Human Resources

Concluding the HR review project, Council rescinded the existing HR policies and approved replacement policies along with a few additional ones.
