2023 Farm Family Award

Council awarded the 2023 Farm Family Award to SMB Farms - Scott and Deanne Stauffer & Milo and Bonnie Stauffer, and nominated them for a Farm Family award presentation at Farmfair International in November. Congratulations SMB Farms!

Emergent Funding Request

The Beaver Heritage and Agricultural Society submitted an emergent request to Council for financial assistance to make necessary repairs to the Ryley Pool. Council voted to provide funds in the amount of $27,140.41 to be funded from the Claystone Waste dividend.

Proclamation - National Drowning Prevention Week

Council proclaimed that July 16 – 22, 2023 be recognized in the County as National Drowning Prevention Week, and that for the next five years, the week that coincides with National Drowning Prevention Week in July will be recognized by the County.

Temporary Adjustment to Governance and Priorities Committee (GPC) Meeting Schedule

From September to December, 2023, Council scheduled an extra GPC meeting on the first Wednesday of each month following the conclusion of the Regular Council meeting. GPC consists of all members of Council and meets outside of formal Council meetings to discuss matters that require additional time for consideration, and do not require an immediate decision of Council.

Notice of Motion - Uniform Fire Protection Call Out System

Council defeated Councillor Bruce’s motion to prepare a resolution for the August Rural Municipalities of Alberta District 5 meeting regarding a uniform fire protection service fee throughout Alberta.

Letters of Congratulations for Provincial Cabinet Ministers and locally elected MLA’s

Council authorized Reeve Smook to send congratulatory letters to Provincial Cabinet Ministers and locally elected MLAs on their appointments to office. The letters will also include requests for meetings to discuss strategic initiatives and other matters of interest, as part of Council's ongoing advocacy efforts.
