Critical Air Quality Alert - CANCELLED

UPDATE @ 7:10 PM: Alert has been CANCELLED - the fire is now under control and no longer emitting toxic smoke.




The County of Minburn has issued an urgent Air Quality Alert due to an uncontrolled fire at an oil lease site, situated 23 km southeast of Mannville. The fire involves the burning of crude oil, resulting in the emission of toxic smoke which poses significant health risks if inhaled.

This smoke is impacting a broad area, extending to the east of Beaver County.

Immediate actions recommended:

Seek shelter indoors at once.
Ensure all windows and doors are firmly closed.
For those driving, close all windows and air vents and promptly exit the affected area.
