Speed Reduction on Secondary Highway 854

Beaver County Council is pleased to announce that the Minister of Transportation has recently approved a reduction in the speed limit on Secondary Highway 854, from Highway 14 to Township Road 502.

Residents of the area had expressed concerns that mud tracked onto the highway, by large vehicles during wet weather, made the road surface very slippery.  To address this issue, and with support from Claystone Waste, Council submitted a request to Alberta Transportation in September 2019 for the speed reduction. After a long wait, a decision has finally been made which should help to alleviate the concerns raised.

Alberta Transportation will work with the highway maintenance contractor, Emcon, to install new signage to indicate the speed reduction.

Any questions or concerns regarding highway maintenance should be referred to Emcon at 1-800-390-2242.
